OpenAI frontier models and Codex are now generally available on AWS. This integration allows millions of customers to build AI applications using familiar AWS environments, controls, and procurement workflows. The partnership aims to remove operational barriers and accelerate the path from evaluation to production.

OpenAI has announced that its frontier models and Codex are now generally available on AWS, providing enterprises with a new path to build AI applications within their existing cloud environments. According to OpenAI, the integration removes major barriers to AI adoption by leveraging established security, compliance, procurement, billing, and governance workflows that enterprises already trust. Customers can access these capabilities in two primary ways: through OpenAI models on Amazon Bedrock, which utilize AWS-native security and controls, and Codex on Amazon Bedrock, which brings OpenAI software engineering agents into AWS to assist with writing, reviewing, debugging, and modernizing code. Both options are available in Commercial and GovCloud regions. Furthermore, OpenAI stated that future availability will include Daybreak, a vision for software development and defense that features cyber models and Codex Security designed to help cyber defenders identify risks, model threats, and remediate vulnerabilities within the development loop. By bringing these capabilities into familiar AWS environments, organizations can bypass operational hurdles and accelerate their transition from evaluation to real deployment while maintaining operational confidence.

Why it matters

Integrating leading AI models directly into established enterprise cloud platforms reduces friction in procurement and security reviews. This drastically lowers adoption barriers for organizations looking to scale AI production.
