OpenAI has opened applications for the OpenAI Student Collective, an initiative designed to provide undergraduate Campus Leads with the tools, training, funding, and support necessary to build AI-powered campus communities. According to OpenAI, students have been among the first to explore AI for learning and creativity, and the program aims to help that energy grow on campus. Campus Leads work in pairs to organize welcoming events where students learn AI skills, weekly coworking sessions for project development, and campus-wide celebrations. Program benefits include a ChatGPT subscription, Codex credits, funding and merch for campus events, training on the latest OpenAI technology, access to the OpenAI team and a global network of leads, a semesterly cash stipend, and opportunities for a headquarters visit in June 2027. Applications are currently open through August 31, 2026, for undergraduate students in Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France who are enrolled as of August 2026 and expect to graduate after December 2027. Applications for the Fall 2026 cohort have closed in the United States, Canada, and India, though students in those regions and elsewhere can still submit an application for future cohorts. Applicants must commit 4 to 6 hours per week from August 2026 to June 2027, possess work authorization in their country of study, and not currently serve as an ambassador or intern for any other AI programs or companies.
