Anthropic opens Seoul office and announces new partnerships across the Korean AI ecosystem

Anthropic has officially opened its new office in Seoul, South Korea, establishing a long-term base led by Representative Director KiYoung Choi. Alongside the opening, Anthropic announced partnerships across the Korean AI ecosystem involving enterprises, startups, and researchers. A key component of the expansion is a Memorandum of Understanding signed with South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT to support safe and responsible AI adoption in the public sector, which includes evaluating model safety in Korean with the Korea AI Safety Institute. Major Korean organizations are integrating Claude into their operations. NAVER has deployed Claude Code across its entire engineering organization, while Nexon uses it for live-service games. Large business groups including LG CNS, Hanwha Solutions via AWS Bedrock, and Samsung SDS are rolling out Claude to thousands of employees for software development, knowledge work, and agentic workflows. Startups like Channel Corp are embedding Claude directly into customer platforms. In the research sector, Anthropic is providing Claude access to researchers at the National AI Research Lab, a consortium including KAIST, Korea University, Yonsei University, and POSTECH. Nonprofits such as Good Neighbors Korea are also adopting Claude to reduce administrative workloads. Furthermore, Anthropic co-hosted events like Claude Build Day with BASS Ventures and announced plans for a hackathon with Replit, Korea Investment Partners, and Korea Investment Accelerator to support local developers and startups.
