Anthropic has announced a $100 million commitment to launch the Claude Frontier Academy, an educational initiative designed to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. According to Anthropic, the program addresses a major bottleneck in enterprise AI implementation: a scarcity of personnel with the practical skills required to build and scale AI systems within real businesses. The Academy features an initial program called the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, which models its approach on medical training by utilizing practicing practitioners, realistic case simulations, and formal assessments. Participants are nominated by their organizations and must complete a multi-day in-person program alongside Anthropic engineers and licensed instructors, followed by a 12-week residency where they lead a real Claude use case at their own company. Initial cohorts currently underway include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk. Graduates who pass the evaluations earn the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge, with the first badges expected in early 2027. In addition to the Academy announcement, Anthropic shared updates noting that it is providing employee-like access to the nonprofit METR for safety evaluations, strengthening its election safeguards for US midterms, and opening a new office in Singapore alongside a government memorandum of understanding to advance responsible AI adoption.
